Ms. Cole was born in Southern California. Her family relocated to the Southern United States, where she was raised in Louisiana. Ms. Cole returned to Southern California for college, attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in English Literature (1993). Upon graduation, Ms. Cole remained in Santa Barbara where she volunteered and pursued her desire to assist people in need, ultimately working with juvenile offenders. It was this work that brought her to law school. Ms. Cole attended Pepperdine School of Law for her Juris Doctorate. She was a Staff Writer for Pepperdine Law Review (2000-2001) and graduated magna cum laude in 2001. Ms. Cole was admitted to the California State Bar (2001) and she is licensed to practice in all State and Federal Courts in the State of California.
Ms. Cole practiced law with the international firm Jones Day (2001 – 2008) specializing in business litigation and employment law.
Representative clients and matters included:
- CRC Insurance Services, Inc.: Defended CRC Insurance Services, Inc. against claims brought by high-level broker ranging from sexual harassment to wrongful termination, ending with terminating sanctions against Plaintiff.
- Verizon Wireless and Verizon Communications: Defended Verizon Wireless against claims brought by employees relating to employment-related issues. Provided consulting regarding employment policies and other employment-related needs.
- Dole Food Company: Defended Dole Food Company in international litigation for claims relating to use of pesticide.
During her time with Jones Day, Ms. Cole was selected as a “Rising Star” by Los Angeles Magazine in 2007. This prestigious honor is reserved for those attorneys in Southern California who excel in their area of specialty.
After relocating to Santa Barbara in 2008, Ms. Cole continued her practice with special emphasis to employment matters – both litigation and consulting – and general litigation. Ms. Cole also provided legal consultation to various businesses, including her family’s general contracting business.
Ms. Cole formed the Cole Law Group in 2010 with the single goal of providing excellent legal services in a cost-effective manner. In her practice, Ms. Cole focuses on employment law, general business consulting and receivership.
